Chapter 6 The Red-Headed League: Illustrative Design
Description: "The Red-Headed League" is a captivating short story by Arthur Conan Doyle featuring Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The plot revolves around a peculiar job offer to a red-headed pawnbroker, leading Holmes to unravel a cleverly disguised criminal scheme. With his unmatched deductive skills, Holmes exposes the true intentions behind the seemingly harmless Red-Headed League. I created an illustrative design that was inspired by the style of graphic designer David Plunkert.
Concept: Jabez Wilson is the main character who runs a pawn shop. He is on the heavier side and has red hair. He is approached with a well-paying job by the Red-Headed League, which involves writing for Britannica. This is when Sherlock Holmes starts investigating the Red-Headed League and suspects there is more to this league than meets the eye. Through astute observations and deduction, Holmes unravels the elaborate scheme orchestrated by criminals, exposing a tunnel leading to a bank. The Red-Headed League is a clever diversion to keep Wilson occupied while the criminals carry out a bank heist.
